Well, I've just moved into my very first house! It is most certainly a learning experience for everyone. Settlement took a mere two hours, mainly because Wachovia decided that they would just "forget" to send over the package on my second mortgage on Friday, so it wasn't ready for settlement on Tuesday morning. Note to readers: do not move on the holiday week. It's a very bad idea. Everyone is hard to get a hold of, and they are not thinking with the right part of their brains. However, luckily I got through to the right people and had everything faxed to my attorney's office. Then, it was on to MY house, to check it all out again to remind myself why I wanted to pay a 30 year mortgage. Honestly, it's a crazy awesome first house to own, and I'm really happy with it. What stinks is that I have to figure out how to fill all the space up. And how to decorate so that it doesn't seem that I am completely inept. What also stinks is that I managed to pick up a sinus infection on Tuesday, and then had to move all day yesterday with it, and then go to skating practice before getting home at midnight. And then I had to work all day today, since I have no vacation/sick/personal days left since it's the end of the year. So here I am suffering, with no work to do really since most of the attorneys are not in this week since they are home spending time with their families. Thank God it's a long weekend.
I may have also found a way to work closer to home. When I was at our Cherry Hill office on Tuesday, I was told they were looking for a paralegal. That would be way closer to home, and the paralegals there actually have their own offices! I mean, come on! So, my attorney is checking on things for me, and if it works out, I could be working there some time this spring. It'll actually be much better than trying to find a new job, because I'll already pretty much know the way they do things, and I won't have to go out and interview. Much easier. And then I could save on tolls, and parking, and gas. I need that to pay for my house now. Anyway, all in all, I'm a pretty happy girl right now. It's way cool to have my own house, even though I'll probably never leave it again since I can't afford to. But I don't care, cuz I've got a great guy to share it with.
