I find I am becoming increasingly shocked at the number of people who honestly support our President. And I'm even more shocked at the number of them who still think that this war we are currently involved in with Iraq has something to do with 9/11. That is just a sham that the President wants you to buy so he can keep up his campaign on the war in Iraq. Iraq didn't bomb us, Afghanistan did. Ironically, you don't see much about the search for Bin Laden these days. Although occasionally he'll release another video taunting us and saying that the attacks won't end. Meanwhile he is left to freely plot his next attack on American soil - because believe me, I'm sure he'll be successful again at some point. No matter how great our homeland security is, I don't honestly believe that a country of this size can really prepare for an attack anywhere within it's borders. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
So many people support the war, and think it makes us a great nation to be in it. Excuse me, but when did helping to cause the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians, and soldiers who don't even know why they are there equal showing what a powerful and great nation we are? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm proud to be an American, but what we are showing of ourselves to the world right now is not something I'm proud of. Sorry people, but I'm not. We are sending so many young soldiers over there to die, and we still don't have the honest reason why. A lot of people don't think this country could handle the truth, but I think that's a load of crap. This country could handle a revolution that freed us from Britain. This country could handle a civil war which in some cases put brother against brother. Don't tell me we can't handle, and don't deserve, the truth about why hundreds, even thousands of our troops are being sent over to die in Iraq. And don't believe the crap about some weapons of mass destruction. We still haven't found those. My guess is you'll find them wherever Bin Laden is, with a big smile on his face. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that Hussein was someone we should've left in power...but don't scam the nation into believing that you are there for reasons you are not. This is more about some agenda probably related to oil and forcing our beliefs on other people. Meanwhile the price of oil is skyrocketing and causing some people to take out loans just to heat their homes. Good lord! Is this what our "great" country is coming to? Let's not forget the hundreds of veterans who can't get healthcare at the VA hospitals because we are spending billions of dollars a day in Iraq.
I could go on. And on. I think we are losing sight of the people who really matter, who live right outside the president's door. The voices and the people who put him in office, and even those who didn't. Because every one of them is supposed to matter. But it seems these days they are the most forgotten.
